How to Change the Vendor Name Across All Products in Shopify

Rebranded a supplier or cleaning up messy vendor names? Here's how to update the vendor field on every affected product at once.

June 22, 2026·3 min read

The vendor field quietly powers more than it looks: vendor filters in your admin, vendor-based collections, and reports that break down sales by supplier. So when a supplier rebrands, or you discover three slightly different spellings of the same vendor, fixing it matters — and doing it by hand across dozens of products is exactly the kind of chore that gets skipped.

Why it's annoying in Shopify

Shopify's bulk editor can show the vendor column, but you still edit it row by row, and there's no "find every product with vendor X and rename it to Y" action. Misspelled or inconsistent vendor names then linger, fragmenting your reports and breaking automatic collections.

Rename it everywhere in one go

With Claude MCP Connector, you describe the change and Claude applies it to every matching product:

Claude
Change the vendor from 'OldBrand Ltd' to 'Acme Co.' on every product that still uses it.
C
Updated the vendor on 64 products.
OldBrand LtdAcme Co.
Vendor filters, reports, and any vendor-based collections now reflect the new name.

Every product that used the old vendor name is updated at once, so your filters, reports, and vendor collections all stay accurate.

Other bulk field clean-ups

Bulk-edit vendor, product type, or tags
Target only one vendor or collection
List how many products each vendor has
Standardize messy vendor names in one pass

Keep your catalog data clean

Consistent product data is what makes filtering, reporting, and automation reliable. Because renaming a vendor — or standardizing any field — is now a single instruction, the small data-hygiene tasks that usually pile up can be handled the moment you notice them.
